If you have existing physical prints, we can turn those into digital files for you! Richmond Camera has over 80 years of experience of carefully photographing your prints and print scanning. Your original print items are reviewed with you by one of our technicians here at our retail location in Carytown, Richmond, Virginia. We will professionally scan your original with any pre-selected options, and carefully package up your original prints, with your new digital media, for pickup in-store.

$10 MINIMUM ORDER ON ALL PRINT SCANNING. A $13 USB IS ADDED TO EACH ORDER.

  • Files are JPG (sRGB colorspace) on USB by default.

    We cannot accept original artwork, prints that are larger than 16x20, or prints we deem too fragile to be handled by technicians.

    Prints must be removed from albums, frames, books, etc. prior to drop-off at our store.

    If you have groupings of prints (ex: different envelopes of prints) that you need separated, each group will be a separate order.

  • $13 - Additional 8gb USB drive.

    $15.00/image - Add simple spot removal, color and contrast corrections, etc.

Frequently asked questions

  • We do not make any changes with the digital files, unless it is something very specific you requested. Simple spot removals, color and contrast correction can typically be performed for only $10/service/image.

  • We may still be able to photograph your photo with the glass still stuck, but we will make that decision on a case-by-case basis.

  • Due to workloads, we cannot scan/photograph your original print(s) while you wait. You will need to leave it at our location. However, you have the peace of mind that your originals never need to leave our facility.

  • While you are more than welcome to ship work to our retail location, we do NOT ship back to you. You would need to pick up completed work at our location, or you could arrange for someone else to pick up the order. We also highly caution against shipping original, irreplaceable items through any shipping service.

  • We do not store the digital files (created during this process) beyond 7-10 days. Please backup the CD or USB you receive with your order, so that you can keep the digital files, even after they have been purged from our systems.

  • If you would prefer to be emailed a link for digital downloads, please let an employee know. Please be advised that the files expire in 30 days if they are not downloaded from the emailed link, and that Richmond Camera provides NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT for this service. If you have issues, we will prompt you to return to the store to buy a USB instead.

  • You will need to communicate that need to us upon drop-off. The back of a print counts as an additional scan in terms of pricing.

  • In order to minimize the security risk (viruses, etc.) to our internal systems, we do not allow customer-provided USB drives for file delivery. Richmond Camera will provide its own for this purpose.
