It's a new year, one in which Richmond Camera celebrates our 80th anniversary! We’d like to share some ideas for sparking your creativity in photography and printmaking going into 2018. We hope they can inspire you and add to your own personal goals!
1. Preserving Family Images
A great goal for the year is to finally preserve those priceless family images you have in boxes tucked away in the house. We can provide a variety of services to help you, from scanning them into high-quality digital files, to making reprints, slideshows, books, and other creative solutions. The task can certainly be daunting at times. But do not fret! Stop by one of our locations, or give us a call, and we can give you some tips and ideas for how to manage the undertaking and get started!
For example, if you have thousands of slides in boxes, a common first step is separating out the ones you want to preserve. At every Richmond Camera location, we have a light table and magnifying glass you can use to view each slide.
Another great resolution is converting your family’s old 8mm videos, VHS tapes, and more to DVD- and we can certainly help!
2. Getting Out Of Automatic Mode On Your Camera
Whether it's a new camera you received for the holidays, or a camera you've had for awhile, most people can agree that getting a DSLR out of automatic mode unlocks your true creative potential. Keeping a DSLR in automatic mode can be easy and helpful at times, but it's also much like keeping your car in first gear. We can help! We offer group classes, as well as 1-on-1 classes, both of which are extremely affordable. Contact your closest Richmond Camera for more details on classes.
3. Printing More From Your Phone
Making a resolution to print more of your photos is a great one. A good way to start is to pick one day of the month to pick out your favorite most recent photos and order them to be printed. If you have thousands of photos on your phone, it's time to get some printed and preserved! Let us help.
Through our multiple avenues of print ordering, printing from your phone is easier than ever before! Order directly on your phone with our iOS app called 'RC Prints', or you can go to www.richmondcamera.com to pull and order prints within minutes! If you’d need any guidance, you can come into any of the stores, and we can assist you with making prints! All orders can be picked up for free at any of our locations.
4. Camera Cleaning and Maintenance
Over time, your camera sensor, body, and lenses will need cleaning. We can assist by providing that service directly or providing you with the materials to clean your camera yourself. We can provide you with all sorts of tips and tricks regarding cleaning your camera, especially if it's been a while since you've given your camera some TLC. We can also provide you with lots of ideas and information regarding preventative care of your camera, protecting your gear, and more! Stop by today and let’s talk about how to maximize the enjoyment of your camera gear, while minimizing repair incidents.
5. Establishing a Relationship With Your Camera Store
We cannot stress this enough! If you love photography, please establish a relationship with your closest local camera store. Get to meet the staff, ask questions, get feedback on your images, and start a dialogue on how we can help you. What you'll find are associates who genuinely want to listen to you, and help find the right solution for your individual needs. Solving problems for customers is what keeps us going at the end of the day. A local camera store is much more than simply a place to order prints and buy the latest camera gear. It's an opportunity to collaborate with photographic professionals who want to see you succeed in your goals.
Have a happy new year and we're excited to help you on your photographic journey in 2018!
